“The Dinah Shore Chevy Show” is a music-variety show hosted by Dinah Shore. It was broadcast on NBC from 1956-1963. It was produced by Bob Banner Associates and NBC and sponsored by Chevrolet. It was first aired on October 5, 1956. It began as a series of monthly specials and became a weekly series in 1956 due to its popularity. The show ran for 7 seasons with a total of 218 episodes, winning 4 Emmy Awards during its run.
Dinah hosted this hour-long weekly show that featured celebrity guest stars from the worlds of music, theater, sports, and movies. It featured Dinah and guest stars in a variety of songs, skits, production numbers. The show traditionally opens with its theme song "See the USA in your Chevrolet" and ends with her warm kiss to the audience. Dinah's warm and friendly style, Southern charm and her talent made her a well-loved host and, combined with the various talents of the guest stars, made the show extremely popular. These shows were hour-long variety shows similar to "The Ed Sullivan Show", but with singing, dancing and skit-playing comedies.
